Program Description:
Breakthrough Santa Fe welcomed our first students in 2004 on the campus of Santa Fe Prep. The School initiated the Breakthrough program as part of its âLocal Groundâ initiative, seeking to serve the broader Santa Fe community with what the School does best: provide an ambitious course of study in a warm, nurturing environment. Prep supports the program financially and institutionally and considers Breakthrough an integral part of the Schoolâs mission. In addition, Breakthrough Santa Fe provides high school and college-age young adults, who come from around the country, with a rewarding experience as teachers and mentors. We work in close collaboration with the Santa Fe Public Schools and other groups that serve our cityâs youth.

Objectives:
• Increase academic opportunity for highly motivated, under-served students and put them on the path to college; and • Inspire and develop the next generation of teachers and educational leaders. • To lessen the college access gap in Santa Fe by providing comprehensive services for our students for the 6 years before they enter college. • Breakthrough Santa Fe is a tuition-free program in which talented high school and college students teach middle school students with limited educational opportunities the academic, organizational and social skills they will need to succeed in competitive high schools programs, and eventually, college.
