Program Description:
Detroit Parent Network (DPN) is a premier parent organization that transforms parents to make Detroit a better place to raise and educate children. Our mission is to develop powerful parents (and primary caregivers) who are equipped to get the best education possible for their children. We believe that all parents are leaders and every parent has something to contribute. We believe that all parents want the best for their children who can solve their own problems when given proper support. It is our belief that parents who learn and share new skills with each other become stronger. We also believe that parents who get involved in the organization and their community become connected and powerful. Along with being a resource to parents, we are a resource for their children through programs such as Project Graduation, Pathway to Excellence, Pathway to Literacy, Play & Learn Music Demo Classes, and Teen Parent Support Group. For DPN, children are our best investment! Our Project Graduation (PG) Program provides support and resources to parents and students in grades 7-12, ensuring the student stays on track, graduates on time, and enrolls in a post-secondary institution. Parents also receive a PG coach to help empower parents to be more active in the college planning process We service students in and around the city of Detroit.
