Program Description:
Since 1995, the Foundation for a College Education (FCE) has worked to increase the number of students of color from East Palo Alto and the surrounding area who graduate from a four-year college or university. FCE has created a community where higher education is attainable. By engaging both students and parents in intensive, personalized programs starting in high school, FCE provides the information, the resources, and the encouragement students need to succeed in college and beyond. Of the 130 students who have graduated from FCEâs high school program since 1999, 100% have enrolled in a college or university. Eighty-five percent of enrolled FCE students have either graduated from college or on track to graduate. This percentage is more than double the college graduation rate for all students and more than three times the rate for students of color.

Objectives:
The vision of FCE is to create a community where higher education is attainable. By engaging both students and parents in our work, we aim to create a community of learners who are armed with the right tools and information. Together, they play a pivotal role in sharing this information with other families about how best to take advantage of school resources and navigate the college admissions process, thus catalyzing change in the larger community.
