Program Description:
KIPP Deltaâs story began in 2002 in Helena, Arkansas where we opened the doors of our first middle school, KIPP Delta College Preparatory School, to 65 students in fifth grade. Our goal was to graduate students with the strength of character and academic abilities needed to succeed in life â and in so doing, to prove what is possible in public education. We promised to do whatever was necessary to help our students succeed, and we asked them, and their parents, to make similarly rigorous commitments. Ten years later, KIPP Delta is still making â and keeping â the same promises. KIPP Delta has grown to serve more than 1150 students and 73 alumni. We now have four schools serving the Helena and Blytheville areas, KIPP Delta Elementary Literacy Academy, KIPP Delta College Preparatory School, KIPP Blytheville College Preparatory School and KIPP Delta Collegiate High School.
Mission Statement:
We believe that All of us WILL learn and that through hard work, high expectations, and more time in the classroom with dedicated teachers, each of our students will be prepared for success in college & life. By providing outstanding educators, more time in school learning, and a strong culture of achievement, KIPP Delta is helping all students climb the mountain to and through college.
Objectives:
KIPP Delta’s entire team is dedicated to doing whatever it takes to help students be successful in high school, college and life. We have a longer school day and students also attend school for three weeks in the summer. Students frequently stay after school and are able to contact their teachers by phone at night for help with homework. For their hard work, students may earn the privilege of participating in extracurricular activities and end of the year field lessons, and the schools frequently reward student performance with special events and field lessons. Our KIPP Through College team exposes students to multiple college options early, guiding students and families through the admissions & financial aid process and advocating to eliminate barriers to college matriculation and graduation. KIPP Delta is held to high standards for academic results and financial discipline by its Board of Directors, KIPP Foundation, and the State of Arkansas.
