The Rutgers Upward Bound Program is currently in its 48th year of operation on the Rutgers University Piscataway campus. Rutgers Upward Bound (RUB) is a pre-college program designed to assist and motivate students to successfully graduate from high school, prepare for college admission, and to successfully complete their baccalaureate degree. Upward Bound is a year-round project that offers academic year workshops such as SAT & HSPA preparation, cultural activities, college tours, college planning, as well as a host of other programs. Upward Bound also offers a mandatory summer institute on campus to prepare students for college life. Upward Bound Math-Science is an additional grant recently received in 2012 at Rutgers to provide the same services as the traditional Upward Bound program to prepare students for college. However, the RUB Math-Science Program serves additional students with a focused preparation for major’s and careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (S.T.E.M).

The Rutgers Upward Bound and Upward Bound Math-Science Programs provide young scholars with a series of specialized college preparatory services including: tutoring, mentoring, advising, programming, college courses and on-campus experiences with research faculty to increase student persistence and graduation from high school and admission to institutions of higher education
