Established in 2003, the University of Chicago Collegiate Scholars is committed to helping talented Chicago Public Schools students gain admission and success at highly selective universities, in line with the UChicago Promise. You probably know some of the challenges facing these students.

Mission Statement:
The University of Chicago Collegiate Scholars Program (UCCSP) was founded in 2003 as a three-year program that aims to prepare talented Chicago Public Schools students in grades 10-12 for admission and success at the nation's top colleges and universities. UCCSP is shaped around a core curriculum of humanities, social science, math, and science courses during the summer months taught by University of Chicago faculty and PhD candidates, and enrichment activities geared toward college readiness, cultural awareness, and civic engagement during the academic year.
Objectives:
The program’s course work and enrichment activities are designed to help students learn to communicate clearly and effectively, improve mathematical reasoning, and develop an effective approach to textual analysis. The program focuses on three areas: advanced academics, top-tier college prep, and creative collaborations. We offer courses taught by University of Chicago faculty in such areas as: Humanities (Language Arts) Social Sciences (Economics, History) Mathematics Biological Sciences Physical Sciences (Physics and Chemistry) Entrepreneurship Arts Collegiate Scholars come from 45 Chicago Public Schools. They are: Strong students Leaders in their schools and communities Involved in extracurricular activities Committed to applying themselves toward the goal of going to a top college.
