College Depot is a free, full-service college planning center. Located in the Burton Barr Central Library in downtown Phoenix, Arizona, the services of College Depot are available to all. However, College Depot specifically targets its outreach to Phoenix's low- and moderate-income communities, especially those demonstrating low rates of educational attainment. College Depot provides family members and mentors an opportunity to be involved in the college-planning process at times that are convenient to them. The services include workshops and one-on-one assistance with financial aid, ACT and SAT test preparation, career exploration, and more. Students can complete scholarship searches, admissions applications, and financial aid forms on the spot with experts on-hand to provide assistance. One aspect that has led to College Depot's fast success is the accessibility of the facility. The Burton Barr Central Library is centrally located in downtown Phoenix and is accessible by city bus routes and the light rail. Many of the teens that gather at this library are students in the Phoenix Union High School District, which falls into the target audience of College Depot. Essentially, we provide students with the information they need to apply to and pay for college.
