Program Description:
The MTSU Educational Talent Search program (METS) is a federally funded college access program in which two thirds of the participants are low income and potential first generation college students. The METS service area includes six middle schools and four high schools in Cannon, Coffee, Grundy and Warren County. Students are selected based on academic and personal potential as well as financial need. As such, participants must maintain a 2.75 GPA or higher. METS provides participants with tutoring, ACT Prep, career exploration, study skills, personal finance literacy and tours of local campuses in addition to assistance with the college application process and search for potential sources of financial aid. METS students represent some of the best and brightest students in their schools and have been successful in obtaining comprehensive scholarships to prestigious educational institutions such as Vanderbilt University and Swanee.
