New Jersey SEEDS is a statewide nonprofit that changes the lives of high-achieving students from low-income families by transforming their educational opportunities. Each of SEEDS' academic programs is designed to rapidly build the critical thinking skills, knowledge base, emotional intelligence and cultural understanding that will allow students to thrive in far more challenging school environments than those from which they come. SEEDS places students at selective day and boarding schools or colleges and universities across the country with substantial financial aid packages.
Mission: New Jersey SEEDS changes the lives of motivated, high-achieving students from low-income families by transforming their educational opportunities. We ensure that our students have the knowledge, skills, access and support to thrive at the nation's finest schools and colleges. Vision: We strive for a world in which young people's initiative, creativity and intellect can flourish without regard to socioeconomic status.
SEEDS' College Scholars Program is a 17-month education experience designed to prepare and place top performing, low-income students from eligible public high schools into highly competitive colleges with sufficient financial aid. College Scholars participate in academic classes with SEEDS each Saturday during the spring of students' 11th grade year, and throughout 12th grade. College Scholars also take part in a three-week residential session during the summer before their senior year in high school. Students work closely with SEEDS' Placement team to explore college options, navigate the college application process, negotiate a financial aid package, and enroll in a higher education institution.
