Program Description:
DC Prep is a high performing network of charter schools in Washington DC whose mission is to bridge the educational divide in Washington, DC by increasing the number of students from underserved communities with the academic preparation and personal character to succeed in competitive high schools and colleges. When students graduate from DC Prep in 8th grade, they are automatically enrolled in PrepNext, DC Prep's Alumni Support program where we work to ensure that each graduate has the tools they need to succeed personally and professionally. Our program includes: * Bi-weekly study halls * One-on-one counseling, both academic and socio-emotional, beginning in 9th grade * Intensive college process support including test prep classes, college visit trips, college list guidance, financial aid guidance, etc. * Meetings with receiving schools to facilitate student and family conversation and success * Academic and organizational tutoring at all levels * School visits to students enrolled in college to help with adjustment and to respond to any difficulties. Our program is cost-free to the students and takes place continually in person, online, and on the phone
