Program Description:
The two Upward Bound programs at California University of Pennsylvania (Upward Bound-Fayette and Upward Bound-Greene) are federally-funded educational programs designed to prepare eligible students for success in a program of study at a college or university leading to a bachelor's (four-year) degree. Both programs, which serve approximately 156 students (up to 93 from Fayette County and 63 from Greene County) from select target schools in southwestern Pennsylvania, offer FREE activities and services year-round, including academic advising and guidance, planning for postsecondary education, help with college admissions and financial aid applications, social and cultural opportunities, study skills instruction, tutoring, and visits to area college campuses. Students can apply for admission to Upward Bound in 8th or 9th grade and remain in the program until they graduate. Furthermore, they are under no obligation to apply for admission to or attend California University of Pennsylvania and instead are encouraged to explore colleges or universities which best suit them.
