Program Description:
Harlem Center for Education is a non-profit organization that has been in existence for over 40 years providing needed FREE educational and advising services to low-income, first generation youth and adults in the East Harlem, Harlem and inner city communities. The organization has three major programs: high school, middle school and adult. These programs provide participants with a host of free services from after school instruction and homework assistance for our middle school participants to college, career, academic and financial aid advising for our high school and adult participants, as well as GED prep classes, tutoring, college admissions test prep classes, college campus visits, workshops, curriculum advisement, assistance in selecting and applying for college and financial aid and a host of others.

Aid and inspire economically disadvantaged youth in New York City in the pursuit of higher education and career achievement by providing them with knowledge, skills, guidance and understanding. Our ultimate goal is to provide our participants with the competencies necessary to utilize post-secondary education as a means to escape poverty and improve their lives.
