Program Description:
Established in 2003 with the support of noted philanthropist Eugene M. Lang, the Lang Youth Medical Program (Lang Youth) at New York-Presbyterian Hospital (NYP) is a six-year science enrichment, mentoring, internship, and college preparatory program for talented ethnic minority youth who aspire to become future scientists and healthcare professionals. Utilizing NYP resources, Lang Youth provides its students with a hands-on science curriculum that integrates life skills and character development with community service and activism.

Lang Youth's mission is to inspire young people from the Washington Heights and Inwood community to fulfill their academic and career aspirations.
Objectives:
1. To develop in our students a science background that would provide the skills to participate in today's information-age society with sensitivity, cultural awareness, and civic responsibility. 2. To build skills that strengthens students' science abilities and would lead to better understanding of the natural world. 3. To foster students' self-esteem and academic and personal ambitions. 4. To assist students achieve their academic potential. 5. To inspire the development and pursuit of career and life goals, particularly in medicine, healthcare, and the sciences.
