Program Description:
The Next Generation Venture Fund (NGVF) is a scholarship program that invests in academically talented students from African-American, Latino, and Native American backgrounds. Many of the NGVF scholars are first generation students. They are enrolled in the program from grades 8th-12th. NGVF ultimately builds a pipeline for high potential students from diverse backgrounds that lead to success in middle school, high school, college, and careers by providing opportunities and leadership roles that might otherwise be missed. Overview NGVF was established in 2004 by the Goldman Sachs Foundation. It is now a joint venture between three talent searches and the combined regions they serve. The talent searches include the following: The Duke Talent Identification Program (TIP), Northwestern University Center for Talent Development (CTD), and the Center for Bright Kids (CBK). The NGVF students were initially identified through participation in these talent searches. They achieved qualifying SAT/ACT scores in middle school. These scores, as well as demographics and demonstrated financial need, are used to identify the NGVF scholars. There are currently over 300 NGVF alumni.
