Program Description:
The Elon Academy is a non-profit college access and success program for academically promising high school students in Alamance County with a financial need and/or no family history of college. The Academy includes three consecutive summer residential experiences prior to the sophomore, junior and senior years, as well as year-round Saturday programs for students and families. The summer after high school graduation, scholars participate in the Elon Academy Transitions to College Program. Once on their respective college campuses, Elon Academy graduates and families are provided with continuing support through the Elon Academy College Success Program to ensure college completion.

The Academy is dependent on the generosity of individuals, businesses, and foundations.
Mission Statement:
The mission of the Elon Academy is to inspire academically promising students - who are often underrepresented on college and university campuses - to pursue higher education, build leadership skills, and develop an active sense of social responsibility. We want them to gain the academic strengths, interpersonal skills and sense of self-worth that will position them to succeed in college and beyond. We believe that with the proper support every student who aspires to go to college can accomplish that goal.
Objectives:
Our goal is to provide the support and resources needed to ensure that all our Elon Academy scholars obtain college degrees, take advantage of the rich experiences of college, and contribute to the intellectual and social climate of the university (and ultimately their communities) through their active campus/community citizenship. We believe that access to information about college is essential, but that information alone is insufficient. We see it as our responsibility to provide experiences that will inspire our scholars to find their passion, find meaning in their lives, and imagine new futures for themselves and their families. To that end we have developed a four-phase program to partner with our scholars, our families, and our community to build trusting relationships over time. The Elon Academy programs are based on academic strengthening, leadership development, college-going knowledge and culture, service, and family involvement. Delivering challenging, effective, and appropriate curricular and co-curricular experiences is critical to their success.
