About:
Program Description:
íAdelante Latina! believes that every student should have the opportunity to attend college and our programs works to help make that possible for all of our students. Our program meets after school two days a week: one of the two days, students attend class with students in their grade taught by a professional teacher who focuses on improving their reading comprehension, vocabulary and writing skills, and provides SAT preparatation. On the other day of the program, each student is provided with her own tutor who works with her on íAdelante Latina! classwork and also provides assistance with school work, as necessary. Seniors focus on college and scholarship applications.

Mission Statement:
The mission of íAdelante Latina! is to help Latina girls overcome the socio-cultural, economic and academic barriers they face in pursuing a college career. The program strives to improve high school performance through interaction with expert teachers and caring tutors, with an emphasis on reading comprehension, vocabulary, writing skills and SAT reparation.
Objectives:
The goal of íAdelante Latina! is for all participants to be accepted into either a 2-year community college or a 4-year college or university with adequate financial support. Each graduating senior who goes on to college is provided with a one yer $3,000 scholarship.
